arccatalog database server和database connection

<br>ArcCatalog中的Database Concentions下的<br><br>“add spatial database connection”<br><br>和"Database Servers“ 有什么区别啊？<br><br><br>我装了ArcSDE后能用前者连上，<br><br>但是后者连不上说不支持数据库的版本。<br><br>（我是SQL server 2008 enterprise)<br>看了arcgis的帮助文档后还是不明白。<br><br>谢谢
